Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day

Many of us think about nutrition daily, hourly, or not at all.

At Chloe's SFFC, we are always thinking of ways to marry nutrition, fun and flavor.

Its National Nutrition Month and that got us thinking about the sentiment: 

"Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day"  

"Eat right" is one thing, but what makes this mantra interesting is- "your way."

You have to eat right for you. What is realistic and fun for you? 

Developing a plan for eating right and sticking to it is intimidating. 

Not to be negative, but what helps me, is thinking about the ways NOT to eat?

  • Standing and eating- this approach is so much easier and it just happens before I realize I am doing it! 

  • Eating off others plates- why does it always look better on someone else's plate?

  • Waiting too long in between meals- total recipe for disaster

In creating this DO NOT do list (I love me a list) - I feel like I have a place to begin to make positive changes and move toward "eating right, my way, every day." I am pretty good about eating healthy but the how I eat needs some work -see above. 

To finish off nutrition month and in the months ahead, I am going to: 1) sit down while eating, ahh sounds lovely;

 2) keep my fork to myself, Jason and the kids will be relieved; and 3) focus on planning meals, reserving fasting for the appropriate occasions.

Breakfast: Eat it!

The Soft Serve Fruit Co. is now serving BREAKFAST!! 

There are so many reasons to eat breakfast. Many of us still hear our mothers nagging us about the "most important meal of the day." We rebel by pounding a cup of coffee on the way to work, eating a donut in the conference room or settling for one of the many "healthy" fruit bar options out of a box.

But it turns out our mothers were right, we should be eating breakfast! However, now more than ever, it is important to fuel your day with healthy options that boost your metabolism, deter you from over-snacking during the day and give you powerful antioxidants, fiber, and flavonoids! Our new breakfast menu does just that!

Breakfast refers to "breaking the fast" of the night before but in our jumbled world has come to mean a lot of different things. To us, breakfast means; A healthful meal that offers recovery after a morning workout to jumpstart you for the day ahead; or just an enjoyable way to, first thing in the morning, pack in and provide yourself with delicious recommended servings of Fiber, Vitamin C,  and so much more cheer!

I wonder what they would have to say about the '80s classic movie "The Breakfast Club". OUR breakfast club is healthy and delicious, minus the '80's style and teen angst. Only healthy ingredients and joyful eating are allowed in the clubhouse!

So let's get down to the cold, hard facts about breakfast! Here is a great infographic that explains America's eating habits. A lot of great reasons to eat a healthy breakfast. The Soft Serve Fruit Co. never sacrifices taste for health - we strive to accomplish both.

Our Old Friend Strawberry is Back!

Reunited and it feels so good! To all our strawberry fans who have waited patiently, come indulge in your beloved variety and look out for new sundae and smoothie creations.

 

STRAWBERRY IS BACK AT THE SOFT SERVE FRUIT CO. APRIL 16th!

 

Strawberries are sure to put some "Spring" back in our step! There are so many reasons to celebrate the return of strawberry.

Did you know that Madame Tallien, a member of Emperor Napoleon's Court, was famous for bathing in 22 Lbs of fresh strawberries? Of course, she didn't bathe daily. Here are some more fun facts.  

While we don't recommend bathing in strawberries, we do encourage eating them! There are so many health benefits! From fighting Spring allergies to helping your memory, strawberry is all good!

Do you remember vintage Strawberry Shortcake? She grew strawberries with love. These helpful tips on growing strawberries in containers are a little more practical.  

BURN OFF THE FAT FASTER WITH STRAWBERRY!


Did you know that people who eat nitrate rich foods, like our friend the strawberry, before working out burned 100 more calories than those who did not. Grab a strawberry smoothie or sundae before your workout!

As the weather warms up, there are so many fun activities for you and your family. Stroll through Central Park and visit Strawberry Fields! While there aren't any actual strawberry fields here, it is a quiet spot to take in the natural beauty of the park.

Strawberries are so fantastic that they make us want to break out in song! John Lennon and The Beatles famously mentioned strawberry in their hit Strawberry Fields Forever. Which was actually a song about playing with the kids at a Liverpool orphanage.

There seems to be a lot of songs about Strawberries that have very little to do with the actual fruit:

Coldplay - Stawberry Swing

Halcali - Strawberry Chips - Not exactly sure what they are saying, but we think it is about how delicious strawberries are. 

But enough of that. We here at The Soft Serve Fruit Co. love real strawberries! Here are some great ways to enjoy Strawberry Soft Serve Fruit at one of our three locations.
